of the Mamdani-type. When designing such systems to solve approximation
problem, we should choose triangular norms used in inference and
aggregation operators. This can be done by trial and error. In this
work, we propose an algorithm that allows in an automatic way to
choose the types of triangular norms in the learning process. The
task of this algorithm is also an automatic selection of parameters
of all functions describing the system. The algorithm uses an evolutionary
strategy for its action and has been tested using well-known approximation
      benchmarks.},

image databases by comparing content of a query image and images
stored in a database. The algorithm consists of three main steps:
feature extraction, indexing and system learning. The feature extraction
stage is based on two types of features (SURF keypoints and color).
For indexing we use the k-means algorithm and for system learning
we applied differential evolution. This last step is very important,
and significantly improves the results. The presented algorithm can
be easily modified, by changing its components (feature extractor

case of missing features. The rough set theory is incorporated into

The architecture of the classifier is determined by the MICOG (modified
indexed center of gravity) defuzzification method. The structure
of the classifier is presented in a general form which includes both
the Mamdani approach and the logical approach - based on the genuine
fuzzy aplications. A theorem, which allows to determine the structures
of a roughneuro-fuzzy classifiers based on the MICOG defuzzification,
is given and proven. Specific rough-neuro-fuzzy structures based
on the Larsen rule, the Reichenbach and the Kleene-Dienes implications
are given in details. In the experiments it is shown that the classifier
with the Dubois-Prade fuzzy implication is characterized by the best
performance in the case of missing features},

abstract = {This book demonstrates an original concept for implementing the rough
set theory in the construction of decision-making systems. It addresses
three types of decisions, including those in which the information
or input data is insufficient. Though decision-making and classification
in cases with missing or inaccurate data is a common task, classical
decision-making systems are not naturally adapted to it. One solution
is to apply the rough set theory proposed by Prof. Pawlak.

The proposed classifiers are applied and tested in two configurations:
The first is an iterative mode in which a single classification system
requests completion of the input data until an unequivocal decision
(classification) is obtained. It allows us to start classification
processes using very limited input data and supplementing it only
as needed, which limits the cost of obtaining data. The second configuration
is an ensemble mode in which several rough set-based classification
systems achieve the unequivocal decision collectively, even though
the systems cannot separately deliver such results.},

feature values are rough neuro-fuzzy classifiers (RNFC). Similarly
to neuro-fuzzy systems, they are specific network structures, which
can be trained by optimization methods based on gradient descent.
However, to the best of our knowledge, there are no publications
concerning such way of RNFC designing. In the paper the problems
with gradient learning of RNFC are denoted and the suitable solutions
are proposed. The influence of missing values level on the learning
process and classification quality is examined. The RNFC is compared
with the k-NN classifier which is adapted to missing values problem
by a "wide imputation" method. All experiments use 10-fold cross

abstract = {Abstract In this paper, fuzzy rough sets are introduced as a new solution
to the problem of handling imprecise input information in classification
tasks. The proposed method is shown as an dispensable way to non-singleton
fuzzification. Both methods are applied in neuro-fuzzy classifiers
and are extended to be applied with logical-type as well as conjunction-type
of fuzzy inference. Several theorems describe how to embed non-singleton
fuzzification in antecedent fuzzy sets of the logical-type and conjunction-type
fuzzy systems. Likewise, fuzzy rough fuzzification embeds in alike
the logical-type and conjunction-type fuzzy systems. With reference
to classification, the proposed neuro-fuzzy-rough structure may be
considered as an extension of the neuro-rough-fuzzy structure by
fuzzification of an input space, performed by fuzzy rough sets. The
investigations processed for a wide range of fuzzification spread
allow to observe the behavior of fuzzification methods under consideration
and to verify the common certitude about the meaning of the spread.

usefulness of the first generation of the Intel MIC architecture
for implementing DBN and similar algorithms. In this work, we investigate
how the Intel MIC and CPU platforms can be applied to implement efficiently
the complete learning process using DBNs with layers corresponding
to the Restricted Boltzman Machines. The focus is on the new generation
of Intel MIC devices known as Knights Landing. Unlike the previous
generation, called Knights Corner, they are delivered not as coprocessors,
      but as standalone processors.},

abstract = {Sorting algorithms find their application in many fields. One of their
main uses is to organize databases. Classical applications of sorting
algorithms often can not cope satisfactorily with large data sets
or with unfavorable poses of sorted strings. Typically, in such situations,
we try to use other methods or apply sorting process to reshuffled
input data. Unfortunately, this approach complicates sorting process
and often results in significant prolongation of the time. In this
paper, the authors examined an algorithm dedicated to the problem
of sorting large scale data sets. In the literature, there are no
studies of such examples. These studies will allow to describe the
properties of sorting methods for large scale data sets. Performed
tests have shown superior performance of the examined algorithm,
especially for large scale data sets. Changes sped up sorting of
data with any arrangement of the input elements.},
