Prof. Leszek Rutkowski

 LESZEK RUTKOWSKI received the M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in 1977 and 1980, respectively, both from the Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland. Since 1980, he has been with the Technical University of Czestochowa where he is currently a Professor and Chairman of the Computer Engineering Department. From 1987 to 1990 he held a visiting position in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Oklahoma State University. His research interests include data mining, neural networks, fuzzy systems, computational intelligence, pattern classification and expert systems. In May and July 2004 he presented in the IEEE Transaction on Neural Networks a new class of probabilistic neural networks and generalized regression neural networks working in a time-varying environment. He published over 160 technical papers including 17 in various series of IEEE Transactions. He is the author of the books Computational Intelligence published by Springer (2008), New Soft Computing Techniques For System Modeling, Pattern Classification and Image Processing published by Springer (2004), Flexible Neuro-Fuzzy Systems published by Kluwer Academic Publishers (2004), Methods and Techniques of Artificial Intelligence (2005, in Polish), Adaptive Filters and Adaptive Signal Processing (1994, in Polish), and co-author of two others (1997 and 2000, in Polish) Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms and Fuzzy Systems and Neural Networks for Image Compression. Dr. Leszek Rutkowski is President and Founder of the Polish Neural Networks Society. He organized and served as a General Chair of the International Conferences on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing held in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008. Dr. Leszek Rutkowski is past Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks. He is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, International Journal of Information Technology and Intelligent Computing, IEEE Systems Journal and International Journal of Biometrics, Member of Editorial Board of Journal of Automation, Mobile Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Member of Editorial Board of International Journal of Neural Systems and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing Research. Leszek Rutkowski was awarded by the IEEE Fellow Membership Grade for contributions to neurocomputing and flexible fuzzy systems. He is a recipient of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks 2005 Outstanding Paper Award. Dr. Leszek Rutkowski served in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society as the Chair of the Distinguished Lecturer Program. He is the Founding Chair of the Polish Chapter of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society who won 2008 Outstanding Chapter Award.

Prof. Rafał Scherer

 Rafal Scherer is an assistant professor at Department of Computer Engineering at Czestochowa University of Technology. His research focuses on developing new methods in computational intelligence and data mining and ensembling methods in machine learning. He authored approximately 50 research papers. He is a principal investigator of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education project Computational Intelligence Methods in Data Mining and researcher in Polish-Singapore Research Project “Development of intelligent techniques for modeling, controlling and optimizing complex manufacturing systems”. He is currently authoring a book on multiple classification techniques to be published in Springer. He was a reviewer for major computational intelligence journals. Scherer earned MS degree in electrical engineering at Department of Electrical Engineering and PhD degree in computer science (Methods of Classification Using Neuro-Fuzzy Systems) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of Czestochowa University of Technology. He co-organizes every two years the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing in Zakopane (http://www.icaisc.eu/) which is one of the major events on computational intelligence. He is also a co-editor of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing Research (http://jaiscr.eu/). He serves as a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Standards Committee. He is a co-coordinator of the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance program at the Czestochowa University of Technology.

Dr. Marcin Korytkowski

 Marcin Korytkowski is an assistant professor at Department of Computer Engineering at Czestochowa University of Technology. His research focuses on developing new methods in computational intelligence and data mining and ensembling methods in machine learning, optimizing databases structures and data storages. He authored approximately 20 research papers. His present research, apart from machine learning, are focused on content based image retrieval (CBIR) and data mining with applications to medical data and computer aided diagnosis (CAD).

Dr. Marcin Gabryel

 Marcin Gabryel is an assistant professor at Department of Computer Engineering at Częstochowa University of Technology. His research focuses on developing new methods in computational intelligence and evolutionary design of fuzzy systems. Gabryel earned PhD degree in computer science (Evolutionary Design of modular neurofuzzy systems) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of Czestochowa University of Technology.
