Leszek Rutkowski

received the M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in 1977 and 1980, respectively, both from the Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland. Since 1980, he has been with the Technical University of Czestochowa where he is currently a Professor and Chairman of the Computer Engineering Department. From 1987 to 1990 he held a visiting position in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Oklahoma State University. His research interests include data mining, neural networks, fuzzy systems, computational intelligence, pattern classification and expert systems. In May and July 2004 he presented in the IEEE Transaction on Neural Networks a new class of probabilistic neural networks and generalized regression neural networks working in a time-varying environment. He published over 160 technical papers including 17 in various series of IEEE Transactions. He is the author of the books Computational Intelligence published by Springer (2008), New Soft Computing Techniques For System Modeling, Pattern Classification and Image Processing published by Springer (2004), Flexible Neuro-Fuzzy Systems published by Kluwer Academic Publishers (2004), Methods and Techniques of Artificial Intelligence (2005, in Polish), Adaptive Filters and Adaptive Signal Processing (1994, in Polish), and co-author of two others (1997 and 2000, in Polish) Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms and Fuzzy Systems and Neural Networks for Image Compression. Dr. Leszek Rutkowski is President and Founder of the Polish Neural Networks Society. He organized and served as a General Chair of the International Conferences on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing held in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008. Dr. Leszek Rutkowski is past Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks. He is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, International Journal of Information Technology and Intelligent Computing, IEEE Systems Journal and International Journal of Biometrics, Member of Editorial Board of Journal of Automation, Mobile Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Member of Editorial Board of International Journal of Neural Systems and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing Research. Leszek Rutkowski was awarded by the IEEE Fellow Membership Grade for contributions to neurocomputing and flexible fuzzy systems. He is a recipient of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks 2005 Outstanding Paper Award. Dr. Leszek Rutkowski served in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society as the Chair of the Distinguished Lecturer Program. He is the Founding Chair of the Polish Chapter of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society who won 2008 Outstanding Chapter Award.

Rafał Scherer

is an assistant professor at Department of Computer Engineering at Częstochowa University of Technology. His research focuses on developing new methods in computational intelligence and data mining and ensembling methods in machine learning. He authored more than 50 research papers. He is a principal investigator of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education project Computational Intelligence Methods in Data Mining and researcher in the Polish-Singapore Research Project "Development of intelligent techniques for modeling, controlling and optimizing complex manufacturing systems". He is currently authoring a book on multiple classification techniques to be published in Springer. He was a reviewer for major computational intelligence journals. Scherer earned MS degree in electrical engineering at Department of Electrical Engineering and PhD degree in computer science (Methods of Classification Using Neuro-Fuzzy Systems) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of Czestochowa University of Technology. He co-organizes every two years the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing in Zakopane (http://www.icaisc.eu/) which is one of the major events on computational intelligence. He is also a co-editor of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing Research (http://jaiscr.eu/). He is a co-coordinator of the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance program at the Czestochowa University of Technology.

Marcin Korytkowski

is an assistant professor at Department of Computer Engineering at Czestochowa University of Technology. His research focuses on developing new methods in computational intelligence and data mining and ensembling methods in machine learning, optimizing databases structures and data storages. He authored approximately 20 research papers. His present research, apart from machine learning, are focused on content based image retrieval (CBIR) and data mining with applications to medical data and computer aided diagnosis (CAD). Korytkowski earned MSc degree and PhD degree in computer science (Methods of Classification Using Ensambles of Neural Networks and Neuro-Fuzzy Systems) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of Czestochowa University of Technology. He co-organizes every two years the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing in Zakopane (http://www.icaisc.eu/) which is one of the major events on computational intelligence. He is also a co-editor of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing Research (http://jaiscr.eu/). He took part in many international projects during his work at a Microsoft Partner, Resolution Company and he led teams implementing ERP systems in two large international companies. He designed and managed computer networks in many departments of their clients. He created numerous substantial changes in the code of MS Dynamics NAV for them. He supports Resolution clients in Data Warehouses, Data Analysis Systems and Integration Services. He specializes in Delphi, C#, C/AL and ASP.NET programming. He is the author of the database and internet paper submission system for several large scientific conferences. He has created and developed many software solutions for international companies, e.g. a system for mobile sales in Bottari Company. He also worked in Emerson Polska at the Data and Document Management department. Emerson is present in the market since 1992 and due to the company dynamic development, it is now the largest independent lettershop in the Central Europe Region. It is the most advanced Data Management Centre utilizing the latest technology and optimized processes, while being one of the largest manufacturers of forms and specialised print matter. He worked with huge databases containing customers’ personal data of large telecoms to process them and prepare for special printers. Korytkowski has passed many exams and gets Microsoft Certified Partner title e.g. • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist –Dynamics Microsoft Dynamics™ Navision 4.0 C/SIDE Solution Development He is responsible for Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance program at Czestochowa University of Technology. He was invited as a speaker on events dedicated for information technology specialists such as Microsoft conference “NAV Beauty – nowoczesne rozwiązanie informatyczne dla branży kosmetycznej” or Olsztyńskie Spotkania Informatyczne.

Arkadiusz SZAREK, PhD. Eng.

is an assistant professor at Czestochowa University of Technology in the Institute of Metal Working and Forming, Quality Engineering and Bioengineering. He has been an employee in the Institute of Metal Working and Forming, Quality Engineering and Bioengineering since 2002. On 28th September 2006, he received a PhD in technical sciences (scientific discipline – mechanics, specialization: biomedical biocybernetics and engineering, medical diagnostics, biomechanics) for his doctoral dissertation: Analysis of femur stress and deformation after hip joint endoprosthesis implantation. He defended his doctoral thesis with distinction at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at the Czestochowa University of Technology. His interests include biomechanics, hip joint endoprosthesis, biomaterials, new materials, composites, bone remodeling. He is an author of 40 publications, some of them were presented during national (Poland) and international conferences and congresses.

Lena Pietruczuk

is doing her doctorate degree at Department of Computer Engineering at Czestochowa University of Technology. She earned her MSc degree in mathematics (Genetic Algorithms and their use in forecasting demand) at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of University of Wrocław. She is interested in evolutionary algorithms, data mining especially in frequent itemsets, neural network.

Piotr Duda

is doing his doctorate degree at Department of Computer Engineering at Czestochowa University of Technology. He earned his MSc degree in mathematics (Mountain pass theory) at the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of University of Silesia in Katowice. He is interested in statistics, problems of classification especially decision tree, neural network.

Maciej Jaworski

is doing his doctorate degree at Department of Computer Engineering at Czestochowa University of Technology. He earned his MSc degree in physics (Evaluation of the influence of atmosphere variations on the accuracy of extensive air showers measurements) at the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science of Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He is finishing his MSc in Applied Computer Science at the Department of Physics and Applied Computer Science of AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. He is interested in neural network, classification and clustering in data streams.

Rafał Grycuk

Rafał Grycuk is an MSc. student at Częstochowa University of Technology. In January 2011 he earned his Eng. degree in Computer Science (specialization: Computer Networks) at the Departament of Computer Engineering. He specializes in C#, Java, T-SQL, PL/SQL and ASP.NET programming. In June 2011 he published the first research paper. His hobbies are: football, astronomy, astrophotography, astrophysics and programing. Currently he is preparing his MSc thesis on performance and feature comparison of MS SQL and Oracle database management systems.

Michał Terlicki

is an MSc. student at Częstochowa University of Technology. In 2006 he graduated from II high school in Belchatow in the class of mathematics and computer science. He is currently studying at the fifth year of Computer Science (specialization: Multimedia Techniques and Methods of Artificial Intelligence) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of Czestochowa University of Technology. His scientific interests are focused on artificial intelligence, neural networks and fuzzy systems. Currently he is preparing his MSc thesis on the impact of the number of parameters on the performance of fuzzy decision systems.
